CALL FOR NOMINATIONS: Social Media Coordinator
General: This role will maintain AMCA’s messaging and image on digital platforms. The Social Media Coordinator will play a pivotal role in executing and refining AMCA’s credibility, and build communities to assist in outreach campaigns. The Social Media Coordinator will ensure consistency in AMCA’s voice and brand in the digital landscape.
- 2-year commitment preferred, with further years subject to approval of the AMCA President
- Non-paying position
- Formal title designation
- Name listed on AMCA letterhead
- Designated as member of the Public Relations Committee with oversight from Technical Advisor
Responsibilities
- Manage AMCA social media activities using appropriate platforms that are relevant to AMCA’s target audiences. This may include, but not limited to, the AMCA Facebook, Instagram and Twitter accounts.
- Generate, edit, publish and share engaging mosquito control content on a frequency that’s appropriate for the social media and digital platforms (e.g. photos, videos and news)
- Oversee social media accounts’ design (e.g. Facebook timeline cover, profile pictures and blog layout)
- Stay up-to-date with current mosquito control technologies and items of interest to AMCA membership in addition to trends in social media, design tools and applications
Requirements
- Active member of AMCA in good standing. Current or graduated member of AMCA Young Professionals strongly encouraged
- Knowledge of mosquito control research and application technology
- Conversant in various formats to deliver creative content (text, image and video)
- Must have strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with minimal direct supervision
- Knowledge of public relations and marketing principles
- Ability to assess the consequences and outcomes of program initiatives
- Ability to work with a diverse academic, cultural and ethnic background of the community.
- The AMCA Social Media Coordinator receives reimbursement up to $2,000 for the AMCA Annual Meeting and $1,500 for the AMCA Washington Conference. This will include airfare, transportation, hotel, meeting registration, and meal costs
