About CCMCD: The Clark County Mosquito Control District (CCMCD) is an independent special district dedicated to efficiently managing the risks from mosquitoes and mosquito-borne diseases to protect public health and quality of life in Clark County Washington. Our district has experienced significant growth over the past five years — our annual budget has grown from $500,000 to $1.8 million. We are looking for a candidate who will bring a research-driven, data-informed approach to all aspects of district operations.

 

Job Description: Plan and oversee the successful execution of the mosquito abatement program for Clark County in order to protect the public from nuisance and mosquito-borne diseases.

• Lead and oversee the full Integrated Mosquito Management (IMM) program for Clark County

• Supervise a team of five permanent and up to 12 seasonal full-time employees

• Prepare and manage the District's annual budget and reporting

• Serve as the District's primary liaison to the Board of Trustees, public agencies, and the community

• Coordinate mosquito surveillance, data collection, and disease vector analysis

• Manage contracts, equipment, pesticides, and field operations including drone and aerial programs

• Develop and update emergency disease response plans in coordination with Clark County Public Health

• Other administrative tasks, including but not limited to payroll, timekeeping, insurance, and retirement


Candidate Qualifications: 

• Bachelor of Science degree in biology, entomology, environmental science, public health, or a closely related field

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a vector control program

• Senior-level executive management experience in vector control is strongly preferred

• Ability to obtain a Public Operator license (Public Health Pest Control) from the Washington Department of Agriculture

• Valid Washington State motor vehicle operator's license (or ability to obtain)

• Knowledge of mosquito biology, integrated pest management, pesticide application, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations

Hiring Wage Range: $108,000 - $135,000 starting salary, depending on qualifications
