This role ensures that all district operations, including the efficacy of treatment materials, field protocols, and staff implementation, are conducted to the highest standards, following scientific methods and established protocols. The QA/QC Coordinator works closely with field staff, entomology staff, the District Entomologist, and the District Operations Manager to monitor and report on the performance of control materials, treatment regimes, and program effectiveness. This position also supervises seasonal staff and manages QA data, providing essential information to assist in operational decisions and strategic planning. The coordinator is also responsible for ensuring that treatment materials have minimal impacts on non-target species and the environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Quality Assurance and Control Program Management:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain MMCD’s comprehensive quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) program, including establishing standardized procedures, techniques, and best management practices for evaluating treatment materials, field protocols, and staff performance.
  • Ensure that all QA/QC operations align with scientific methodologies, protocol guidelines, and industry standards, maintaining the program’s integrity and effectiveness.
  • Establish a clear framework for evaluating control materials and treatment regimes to ensure alignment with District objectives, and ensure the scientific rigor and reliability of field protocols.
  • Ensure that all treatment materials used in MMCD operations have minimal environmental impact and limited adverse effects on non-target species, especially in sensitive habitats such as wetlands and aquatic ecosystems.

Control Material Evaluation and Treatment Efficacy:

  • Coordinate the accurate evaluation of control materials used in MMCD operations and experimental testing, focusing on their efficacy in treatment regimes and their impacts on non-target species and the environment.
  • Collaborate with Technical Services, Field Services, product manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure QA processes are clearly communicated and standardized prior to each season’s operations.
  • Work with the District Entomologist and District Operations Manager to evaluate and monitor treatment efficacy, ensuring that the selected materials and methods produce the intended results in the field while minimizing ecological impacts.
  • Develop priorities to ensure District staff have the necessary information to assess the performance of control materials, providing data to assist in program evaluation, operational decisions, and strategic planning.

Data Management and Reporting:

  • Manage and oversee the collection and analysis of QA/QC data, conducting statistical analysis to generate monthly and annual reports on the efficacy of control materials, field protocols, and staff implementation.
  • Communicate QA/QC results clearly and accurately to all relevant staff, including management, field staff, technical teams, and public relations personnel.
  • Maintain a detailed record of all QA/QC activities, ensuring that all data systems work effectively for data entry, management, and analysis.

Field Protocols and Staff Implementation:

  • Oversee the implementation of field protocols and ensure that they are standardized and consistently followed by all field staff.
  • Ensure that field staff are trained in the proper procedures for evaluating control materials, applying treatments, and collecting data, maintaining high standards of performance and compliance.
  • Monitor staff performance and adherence to field protocols, providing feedback and corrective actions as needed to ensure quality control.
  • Conduct regular field audits and inspections to ensure that all treatment materials are applied properly, that protocols are followed, and that non-target species and environmental impact are carefully monitored and minimized.

Industry Research and Best Practices:

  • Coordinate the review and evaluation of quality assurance research, product assessments, and new industry techniques to improve the efficacy of control materials and field operations while minimizing environmental impacts.
  • Stay informed on new tools, methods, and technologies that could improve QA/QC processes, and share findings with relevant teams to ensure that MMCD operations are aligned with the latest best practices.

Training and Staff Management:

  • Determine and implement training methods for quality assurance, field operations and entomology staff, ensuring all staff are trained in standardized evaluation protocols, scientific methods, and environmentally responsible practices.
  • Supervise a seasonal staff of two or more technicians, providing guidance on work priorities, ensuring proper training, and maintaining adherence to District policies and procedures.

Equipment and Supplies Management:

  • Acquire, prepare, distribute, and maintain all testing and evaluation equipment required for QA/QC activities.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Coordinate data processes and ensure seamless integration between quality assurance information and District data systems.
  • Act as a liaison between QA/QC teams, management, field and entomology staff, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth communication and understanding of program goals, objectives, and results.

Other Duties:

  • Perform other related duties as assigned, ensuring the continuous improvement and effectiveness of the QA/QC program.
