About
I currently serve as the Mosquito & Animal Control Department Superintendent for West Baton Rouge Parish in Louisiana. I reside in Port Allen, LA with my wife Jessica Bragg, a native of Louisiana, and our three children Noah, Levi, and Luke. I and my family attend Harvest Church in Port Allen where I serve on the worship team, media ministry, and as a Sunday school teacher.
I started my career in mosquito control as a Field Inspector at Burlington County Mosquito Control in New Jersey. After moving to Louisiana in 2001, I was hired as a Field Inspector at East Baton Rouge Mosquito & Rodent Control in 2002. Two years later, I joined the newly formed mosquito control department in West Baton Rouge Parish as a Mosquito Control Specialist/Assistant Supervisor. Over the next 10 years, assisting the former head of WBRMC Wayne Kent, I helped grow WBRMC into the IPM program that it is today. From my early days of conducting mosquito surveillance projects, and operating and maintaining mosquito control equipment to now overseeing a team of professionals, managing budgetary items, and department outreach, I have been involved in just about every facet of an IPM-based mosquito control program. I am a longtime member and past Louisiana Mosquito Control Association president. I currently serve on the LMCA Board of Directors, finance committee, and arboviral sampling committee. I also serve as the LMCA representative on the LDAF Advisory Commission on Pesticides.
In 2018, I also became Superintendent of the WBR Parish Animal Shelter & Control Department and oversaw a complete overhaul of the department between 2019 and 2020. New staff, new policies, new procedures, updated ordinances, a new facility, and a new focus on adoptions and shelter work together with regular animal control duties were all put in place during this time. Related to this field of work, I am also a commissioned deputy with the West Baton Rouge Sheriff's Department and POST certified. Today, I am pleased to oversee the department and a team of professionals dedicated to making WBR Parish a safe and secure place for people and animals alike.
